Healthy feet are not a given for everyone.

People with long-term diabetes can get a diabetic foot ulcers, foot wounds that heal slowly and can result in amputation.

Prevention of diabetic foot ulcers is possible...

In the last 15 years an increasing number of clinical studies has shown that ulcers can be prevented through home monitoring and easy, timely interventions such as taking rest or obtaining better fitting insoles.

... but currently too complex

Unfortunately, home monitoring is seldom implemented outside studies because it is currently too complex for people at risk and healthcare professionals to perform.

Secuped makes it easy to detect ulcer onset and avoid wound care.

The hard data is a call to action:

Your challenge: Help us to prevent diabetic foot wounds and amputations. Every 20 seconds someone loses a part of their foot due to a diabetic foot wound that does not heal. These amputations can be prevented if you can intervene in time. Secuped develops an innovative home-monitoring device that detects early warning signs and alerts people at risk and their healthcare providers that an intervention is necessary When alerted in time, diabetic foot wounds can be prevented through relatively simple interventions like taking rest or getting better fitting footwear. To make this possible, we are looking for a Biomedical Engineer or Computer Scientist who will lead the development of image-based analysis algorithms and integrate them into our diagnostic system.
